Employment
Employment is the biggest buzzword in the market and yet is the most precious dream of every youngster. The young generation coming out of colleges / institutes with lots of ener
gy and enthusiasm to grow up in the industry and to glow up their future in their respective fields and interests, perhaps don’t know about the up and down and the working mechanism of all this. Most of the people are just concern about their size of the pocket at the end of the month, especially in the IT world.
They don’t bother about the cause why they are getting the amount and who is paying and for what. Well, someone very well said, till you have skill on your skull, your pocket will never fall. But the question is what skill you need in order to keep your pocket up. There are so many things one can do, so many technologies are there, so many methodologies are there and the very next question is why you need it.
I have seen in my career, many students opt to be language programmer like java, VB, C#, PHP, html, etc. or to be database architect. But did you ever tried to know why someone i.e. employer will have interest on you. Did you tried to think once why he is your boss and what qualification and skills differ him from you. Working 9 to 10 hours from morning till night daily, going to office, coming from office, in the same cubicle, in front of the same monitor, exercising your fingers on those 105 to 112 keys. But at some moment in your journey, you are noticing that it’s all business and yah it’s very true, it’s BUSINESS. Everywhere its business that makes the growth of civilization, economy and all.
Only doing the technical stuff, coding in some language, building some model or algorithm for a complex logic is not sufficient in order to keep your personal interest up. My intension here is to tell you how important are to have other knowledge which has same importance as you have in your technical field.
Let me take a simple example. Most of the new joiners and trainees end up with some technical project as a coder or programmer or something like that with mustard seed sized initi
al package that looks like a shining mountain to an ant. Suppose you have been recruited as an ETL developer in some XYZ company. Your project manager has assigned you some task daily or weekly basis, and you start jumping on those. But did you ever tried to know what the cause behind it is. What is the project for? Why they want to build such a complex BI solution for this and what are the benefits they will get from it. Until unless you understand all these, then don’t think that you have a right size pocket to hold your reward at the end of the day. Understanding the business, getting through it is much more important prior to the development. This not only gives you sharpness and accuracy in the development process but also lead you in the proper direction in your career path. Try to understand the project, try to understand the clients and the business behind it; gather as much information as possible and then finally take the decision of implementation. This not only opens ideas in your current development but also lead you to the alternative solutions for a particular problem. What I am trying to say is to know your step before taking it. Know the impact and cause.
At the end one thing I would say that an idea is the only thing that brings you success in life but to get that idea you need to have enough information, as information is directly proportional to the ideas. More information you have, more you have scope to think, generating more ideas and hopefully one of them may results to your success.
